That's hilarious!!
that was TOO funny!! SO *ducky*!!

So do you use a coop, run and then put the kiddie pools in the run? I would love to see photos of your setup or Julie's. I wish someone sold duck eggs at the Farmers Market. I want to use them for baking. Then I wouldn't need to buy ducks!
Well, mine are only a few weeks old so we haven't gotten that far yet but right now there in the outside brooder and we use a pan that they get in!! Trying now to figure out something a little bigger for them!!

Missie, when they're in between baby stage and juvenile stage I use those plastic cat litter pans. The cheap rectangular ones that cost about $4.00 at Dollar General. I even use those for my Sebastopol goslings until they're big enough to get into the small kiddie pools. Works great!

They are "waterfowl" -- they love water no matter how big or small. They will congregate around a mud puddle if need be. The small blue kiddie pools work great and are very easy to dump out and clean up. I really like the bigger plastic pools for my geese but the downfall to the bigger size is that they're harder to clean out. What I've done with the bigger pools is cut a hole on the side and installed a drain to make it easier to drain and clean.

Here is a pic of my geese in a small toddler pool that my grandchildren outgrew. Obviously, they're too big for the pool but it didn't stop them from enjoying the water.

BTW Sprinkles, Where are you located?

For eggs, I'd recommend Peking ducks. They lay a large white egg. I let mine loose in the backyard with a kiddie pool. They run around all day and eat bugs. They don't require lots of food because with all the bugs they eat they're pretty self sufficient. If you're near Lake Charles I have some extra babies. PM me if you're interested.
