"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

The old saying, "A wet poult is a dead poult". I hope that you don't lose anymore.

It's kinda like really how do you keep them out the rain?? They have a coop to go in but they won't. Geez they won't even roost in it anymore. They go on top of the door that seperates the coop are from the run.

How big are they?

I'm not sure if I mentioned that I had my hand operated on at the end of April!

I have to tell ya'll it's been quite an experience these last 5 weeks learning how to take care of everything around here with just one hand not to mention my left one at that. Do ya'll realize how much a pound is not?? I don't think there's anything around here that weighs less than a pound! Oh yea an empty egg basket!!

But hey nobody can say I didn't take care of my animals... I was out there with stitches in my hand with a glove on cleaning out coops!!

Just don't tell my doctor!!

I'm so looking forward to next Thursday and being able to carry a 50 lb sack of feed again. This filling up the feeding with a butter tub is for the birds!!

Good morning everybody! It's so nice & cool outside here. I found out we have skunks out at our old barn -- was heading to the mulch pile late last night w/the leftover pulp from my plum jelly & came face-to-face with a very large skunk! It did a handstand then changed its' mind & ran under the barn. Time to move my trap! I sure wish I'd had my shotgun with me.

Have two very nice eggplants & some tomatoes from the garden so I know what we're having for supper tonight -- stuffed eggplant!

In the meantime, have pickles to put up so will hop to it. I love this time of year!

Julie have another pea egg for you! Also, I candled last night & saw veins for sure in one of my eggs -- not sure about the other one - I swear, after I do one or two it's like I lose eyesight or something & everything looks the same -- & I'm afraid to leave the top off the bator for any length of time, so I just do a quick sniff around & if I don't smell anything iffy I leave them alone. But all is looking good as far as I can tell.
