Here are a few shots of our Black spanish turkeys. They are still young but I`m pretty sure we have a tom and a hen.

oh man,,,,i want turkeys so bad!! Those are such cute pictures.. Do ALL turkeys make lots of noise and poop though?? I really dont know a bunch about them, I just love them though... Thanks for sharing and making me want them even more:(

I love my turkeys. Mine aren't very loud, except an occasional gobble, gobble, and I have twelve. They also do such funny things that I could sit and watch them all day.

I would`nt say they are noisy, but yes they are vocal. I personaly like the sounds they make so I don`t consider it noise. I also live on a few acres and have the coop pretty far from the house. although the turkeys are almost alway on our porch unless we are out there with them.

I love my turkeys BUT!!! they are prolific poop machines and smell funky even if you keep their areas nice and clean. They also have a talent for getting poop on the feet, yours and theirs even if you can't find a single piece in the coop or run etc..

Regardless the sounds, goofy behaviour and gentle nature of these birds more than make up for the other things as long as you are not squeemish. Also the closest thing you can get to owning dinosaurs without getting an Emu or Ostrich.

I love my turkeys but they are poop machines. In fact I am using them for fertilization by having them in a tractor most of the time and moving the tractor twice a day to concentrate the poop. You should see the pasture where the tractor has been!!! SOO green! Mine wander around for a few hours a day and they are loud but no louder than chickens... I have five spanish blacks (out of 18) and they are very funny. I think all five are toms, but they chase tail worse than any of my other toms... Funny guys...

i LOVE theyre sounds too!!! I just think i may be pushing a bit much on my neighbors if they were "screachers" as someone had once told me... Im going to have to visit this area of the board more to satisfy my turkey cravings (only live ones at this time

) I could never eat one of my birds....that might be a down fall i guess. I would have it forever and i think they're long lived???
