Love my chickens, until tonight

We’re in Michigan. There could be cats, foxes, coyotes but, I don’t think they’re getting in there.
Howdy fellow Michigander! I am in the lower thumb! Sorry to hear bout your loss...I am newer to chickening lol and we had a loss a while back (natural issue) and it broke my spirit for a bit. What part of MI are you in? The chicks should be fine now outdoors in our weather as soon as they are feathered. Mine went out at 6 weeks. My younger ones were out at 4, since they are in a smaller section of my 10x10' coop with the older girls (oops and 2 now proven cockerels) and were nearly feather fully.

We’re in Columbus. Probably not too far from you.

Check your perimeter really good. We had a spot where something was digging. Sorry for your loss. I know it is so sad to lose one as they are so fun and cool. We usually introduce ours to the flock at about 16 weeks. The sad think about owning birds is occasionally there is a loss.
We took our new birds up last year. In the morning our new rooster was dead and only his legs remained. All else were AOK. We never figured out what happened. If the other roosters did it or something squeezed in. We have never found a bird predated like that inside our fenced paddock with a secure chain link roof. It’s a mystery.
Super best luck and I hope you don’t lose anymore. We found a chick dead in our brooder this spring so we moved the two goslings out to their own brooder. The geese are bigger and tougher. It looked accidental. So it seems we lose a baby per year. We have 10 beauties now though.
Let us know if it happens again.
