We have been having a problem the past week. I noticed that part of the run had been pushed down, like someone leaning on it. I even acused the kids of trying to climb it. Come to find out, I was woke up with a horrible call this morning @ 4 am from my Hannah, jumbo white leghorn, So I grabbed my flashlight and head to the coop, my DH right behind me with his 410. I got about 20 ft to it and saw the biggest raccoon i have ever seen DH said it was about 30 lbs. in the run, and my Crazy Big Boy Roo was kickin' his butt

That coon didn't know what to do. But he was trying his dangest to get out of there, My DH took a shot and no more coon. I was going to take a pic but my camera battery was too low.

WHAT A GREAT STORY! LOVED READING IT. THANKS.

BTW, I think when most people start off with chickens, they don't really appreciate their rooster. I know that I didn't at first, but now I can't even imagine having only hens. He's a really neat guy.
He and I have little spats all the time about who's the boss.

Thanks everbody, to be honest my roo and I always had some problems. He tried to spur me a few times, but after I scared the crap out of him, by jumping up and down and screaming. We are cool now. He's a cross between a jumbo white leghorn and cornish. He is problably at least 10 lbs and very tall. He is my and Hannah hero. Since after the fight, he has been strutting around like crazy, so.... funny!
