Posted earlier about the loss of one of my Khaki Campbell ducks 2 day ago. I mail ordered them in December 2010 and they arrived in a box about the size of a shoe via the USPS. We had spent the fall building a house for them using a photo from Backyard Chickens. They have been such a joy... entertaining and great egg layers, just like people claim. My post earlier was looking for a hen to buy so I have 3 again. But I guess because I posted here, it got removed. Newbie syndrome. Sorry about that. Anyway, I highly recommend them.

i almost ordered kaki's but went with cagua's.
Only Because i wasnt sure how nosy a lot of kaki ducks would be..

so needless to say im very interested in learning about kakis from people who have them..

I have two 2.5 week old girls. I'm really looking forward to them growing up and laying eggs for us. My girls are a bit more skittish than the rouen and cayuga and they seem to enjoy swimming more. So far no one quacks yet but they only chatter when I refill their pool or bring food. I'd like a few more campbells in the future to add to the flock when we start training our future corgi to herd.

Ok this new photo uploading thing is crazy. I was trying to upload one pic and was getting like 8. Had to delete the extra and now I'm typing in underline. I don't know if it's the wine or BYC trying to drive me batty!!!

Anyhow. My 4 khakis. They are MUCH bigger now though.

By this fall we should be close to 30 Khakis running free range each day. This number will decrease some as we sell off some of the extras. Growing out a large number of spring babies this year to increase the flock. They are wonderful foragers, and have taught the younger Silver Appleyards the joys of foraging all over the property.

You sound like you have a LOT of ducks! Khakis are great fun for me...though I have just one drake :) BTW, what is that fluffy looking duck in your picture (the white one with the fluffy feathers. That is awesome looking!)

I am going to add at least another female in the spring for our drake, he just has the one WH female for now, but they are young and get along........so far.
