Love My Khaki Campbell Ducks

Because they are the best layer of eggs, forage well, sell well. They aren't the only bird here, we run a full fledge farm.
oh i not going to let you get away with such generalalities --------

.. come on now !! .. You know more than almost any of us about ducks .. spill some beans let some of the secrets of duck raising out or at lest tell us some story's about duck raising around your farm

some of the things you enjoy about it or perhaps some of the fun times you or your family had in raising your ducks ..

most of us would be all ears----------- i know i would be..

also remember just having such a farm in flordia sounds most interesting to many of us .. raising ducks there what about aligators
i would imagine they would like a duck dinner how do you keep them out of your ponds..

oh there is just so many things you know more than us .that i would like to ask.. do you let the ducklings hatch by duck or incubator is their any signs of what would make a better duck mother do you use kakicampbells as sitters of eggs or what breed do you like for this ..

Ok, I live in Colorado and have only heard one story of martens eating chickens, you need a roof so they can't get in (like most animals) and no holes so they can't get in, I just lost my 2 campbells because I accidentaly overlooked a little hole that one could fit through, I think a coon got them though because it looked like one was pulled through the fence. But martens will kill all of your birds in one night and come back and eat them, my dad's client had 10 chickens killed in one night by a marten, that's how we got our suspicions about our birds.

We live on an island, gators float in the canals regularly(so do dolphin and manatee though). We have fencing, and dont fence right up to the canal banks ever. Top and bottom rails (flat boards attached to the posts) help no push under, and keeps the top from sagging helping no climb over) Truthfully we just dont have any of any size right here. There is 10' gator 1/4 mile away (or was) in a park pond, its a huge body of water. We have a 4-5 footer out front, it has been on our bank near the dock once that we saw.

We also have bob cats, but have Great Pyrenees who patrol our farm 24/7 and who would gladly take on any 2 or 4 legged predator.

We dont encourage broody behavior in most of the flocks. Only the Muscovy have the urge most often, and we have 1 duck in that group who sits every chance she gets. Other wise we run cabinet incubators October - June pretty much non stop. We never let geese sit eggs themselves ever.

thats interesting thanks ..
