Lovebird death

one of my lovebirds died due to my dog attacking it and it’s mate seems to be in shock. i have done some research and found out that lovebirds can die from depression of the loss of their mate. I dont know how to prevent this and I need help on how to prevent it. If you have any advice, please spare some.... thank you.

The best would be to befriend/ tame the lovebird so that it sees you as the companion.
