So I was wondering if there is a way to tell the gender of your Lovebird by their behavior(or other clues I'm not aware of) rather than the DNA test? I have a 1 yr old lovebird named Yune who gives me frequent mixed signals as to her gender. The breeder I got her from did think Yune is female, but Yune acts like a male more than a female.
1.) Yune has never laid an egg.
2.) I've heard that the girls can be more moody? But Yune is always sweet. She acts more marshmallow than bird, always grinding her beak, playing and poofing up when she is with people.
3.)She also regurgitates food for her toys.
4.She also has this funny habit of acting like she is on a runway when walking toward her toys, with her head held high. And here is Yune.(let me know if I need a better picture.)Any thoughts? iphone pics 247.JPG

Laying eggs is not a way to tell, as most captive birds (besides the whole finch group) do not breed. If the breeder says it is a girl, I would go with it, but the only real way to tell is a DNA test.
