LOVING my new Brooding system!!

Please let me know about your no waste chick feeders / waterers. My chicks aren't bad, but my ducklings are crazy messy with their water. I set their waterer above a catch basin but they have no problem playing with it until its empty, and somehow flicking it all over their bedding.

I cut holes in an empty plastic milk jug, so they would have to stick their heads in to get the water. But I cut the holes too big. The smallest duck squeezed his way in there and bathes in the drinking water! So its back to the drawing board lol :barnie:he

I posted some pictures below. If you need more information, let me know. It is truly the BEST thing we have done and now I don't get crabby at them for being wasteful. We just made one for our 4-10 week old chicks a few days ago and they are doing great with it. We built one for our cousin who is getting chicks in a few days. It can be used for 0-4 weeks. I will also use it with our turkeys that are arriving the end of June. :)

Very cool! I also love the heat plates. I have the xl one from premier poultry. I also lend out my setup to neighbors. This year I added a chick sized nipple drinker as that was the last thing that drove me crazy but my other nipple drinkers took up too much room or were too hard for chicks to peck.

I use an old rabbit cage for the first week (on top of my washer & dryer) so I can see them really well to watch for any issues and then they go into a puppy playpen for the next 2-4 weeks before they go out to the shed in that playpen to get integrated into the flock. (Depends on weather)

I have inquisitive cats so a roof/top/no big openings is a MUST
