well my dog got in and killed 3 of our chickens, 1 salmon favorelle rooster and 2 hamburg hens. every since the egg production has been much lower.........we started w 21 total and now with the 18 remaining hens of various types we are down to 3-6 eggs per day..........we have blue andalusians, red leghorns some spangled hamburgs etc

one thing i have noticed is that i gave them water for a period of time with the avian 2000 additive from mcmurrays............this was stopped 2 weeks ago but some of the hens are pooping black!!!.........

any thoughts????............thx so much for all the advice in the past and thx for this help as well!![IMG]

Not sure about their poo but you may need some more egg laying breeds.

You don't mention how long ago you lost some of your flock to the dog, but the stress of a dog attack can throw them off of egg laying for awhile.
Also, decreased daylight hours in the wintertime can slow production.
Since you had good production in the past, I would think it was one of those two things.

Dog "got in" and killed my chicks.

Some dogs and chicken don't mix.

If you can not handle both, give up on either dog or chicken.
