    Hi All!

I'm just wondering if there is such a thing as "low grade" bumblefoot. My 8-month-old Bard Rock has been limping for a number of weeks with no change. Here's the situation:

About 4 weeks+ ago we noticed a slight limp. Researched it and found out about bumble. Examined her feet and didn't see anything. Kept an eye on it for another week, no change. Then the limp got worse. At that point we put her in our "chicken infirmary" (large dog kennel) for a week so she could rest her leg. Limp got better but leg was not 100 percent. Put her back in the coop, and that is where the limp has remained. Not horrendous, but there. We've examined her foot regularly still and today was the first time we thought the limping foot felt warm to the touch. DH pressed her pad and she squawked.

We have no idea what it might be. There's no swelling or scabbing. Her spirits and appetite have not changed at all throughout, and she still keeps up with the other hens, no problem. Tomorrow we are going to soak her feet in epsom just to get them really clean, so we can make sure we are not missing anything.

Any thoughts? Maybe just a bad sprain? Bumblefoot that has just not manifested yet?

I had a chick do the exact same thing. I put her in a dog cage in the house and soaked her foot in warm epsom salt water 3 times a day for about a week Like yours I never saw anything, ever.. She got better.. Sounds like you are on the right track!! Just be patient!!!
