New chick owner here….
Have four three-week old silkies. Had a fifth one that passed away at two weeks old (assuming coccidia due to symptoms). I am a vet tech and tested the chicks poo today and found a very low number of coccidia. After the one baby passed, I treated the others with a round of Corid in their water. The feed I’m giving is Kalmbach Organic 20% Starter Grower.
Chicks are currently on Tylosin in their water due to one having an upper respiratory infection, only one having symptoms but treating all to be safe. They will complete a week of antibiotics tomorrow.
My question is…with low number of coccidia, should I still treat again? Should I switch to medicated starter feed?
Chicks are unvaccinated and fortunately at this time asymptomatic.
Thanks for replies in advance!
