So one of my hens went into her nest box and my rooster seemed like "Interested" in what she was doing. He walks over to her and bends his head down making a low rumbling noise right next to her. Almost like he's trying to comfort her. Any Ideas ? Just curious.

He's telling her that she has picked a good place to lay her egg. Many roosters will enter the nest and make this sound to entice hens to lay there.

Chickens surprise me more and more everyday. Thank you !

My roo spends a lot of time in nesting behaviors with his girls. He finds nesting spots, and will make a great show of fluffing up the bedding, and "chuckling". Sounds like tid-bitting but a bit different.
