WHY ARE MY HENS BECOMING FEATHERLESS ON LWER BACK CLOSE TO THE TAIL??? IS IT FROM MY ROO???? I HAVE 25 HENS AND 1 ROO. IS HE JUST FAVORING SOME OF MY GIRLS AND WHEN HE MOUNTS THEM HE IS CREATING THIS????THEY ARE ACTING NORMAL OTHERWISE, NO OSRES OR ANYTHING:confused:
 
Ah, the favorite lady syndrome. You'll have to get or make aprons for them.

Most likely it the rooster but it won't hurt to make sure your chickens are not having a mite problem. Aprons do help with the feather loss from to much rooster.
 
I bought my from Louise's Country Closet ($3.50 each and no shipping) and they have the elastic in them. I like the elastic in that it will prevent entrapment if the bird gets caught on something. However, the elastic must NOT be too snug or you will have the material cutting into the wing/skin of the chicken.
