Hello,
My 2 mo old silkie has a strange inflammation/discoloration on the skin that attaches to the beak. I tried applying Neosporin on it, but it got bigger. Does anyone know what this is, and how to treat it? Could it be a form of fungus, scratch or mite? Thank you.

It could be all those. Not being able to diagnose something, we can try different treatments to see what might work. A thick ointment such as Neosporin or Vaseline might work to smother face mites.

If that fails to improve things, try an athlete's foot med or vaginal yeast cream miconazole in case it's fungal. Another anti fungal is Blu-kote and Betadine.
