My chicken has been acting very cranky lately and today I came home and she was in the nesting box sitting on all three of the eggs from today. I didn’t let them out today and don’t know if she’s been inside all day. I picked her up thinking she was broody because when I put an egg in front of her she puts it under. She was balding on her lower breast. I just noticed and don’t know if it’s Disease/Parasites or Broodiness. Today, her egg had a couple of pieces of poop on it too and she remained fluffy when we put her down on the floor instead of shaking and becoming slimmer. We would very much appreciate a soon response. Thanks so much!

The bald patch on her breast is normal for broody hens although the poop on the eggs can be caused by mites. If I were you I’d go to the vet and get a few mite drops. Hopefully that’ll do the trick

Well, I've only had one broody hatch. However, I was told to wait until she sits pretty tight for about a week to make sure she was good and broody before giving her eggs. This is because she was a first timer.

No we don’t have a rooster, when do you recommend we go get eggs if she continues being broody?

If she’s continues to sit on her eggs for the next three days then you can go ahead and order some eggs.
Don’t leave it too long !

If you’re buying them online and they’re coming in the mail I would advise you to let them set for 24 hrs before you put them under your broody

Ok thanks you
