Shelia my 10 week old light brahma can't seem to get the hang of jumping up

She know how to jump straight up and forward but not at the same time
Meaning she can figure out how to get on her roost or a anything higher than like 6inches

Mazie my golden laced wyandotte who is a couple weeks younger than her does it without problems she jumps up on my desk and me etc

My smaller bantams all do it
Josie my LT brahma I had before her did it young too heck she used to jump on my head. Shoulders sewing desk

Sheila I can see is really trying to do this but cant

Any ideas?

Brahmas are bigger birds. I have a couple. They can jump about 3 ft up but I still make sure there is stuff for them to climb up onto to get from point A to point b.as they get older I do not want them to jump to high and hurt themselves.

Can you put in a lower roost until she figures it out? I have a tree stump in my coop so the heavier birds can jump on that, the up to the roost. Give her time - she’ll figure it out.

Exactly! I had several Buff and Light Brahmas and they could jump really well.....they just sucked at landing! It’s as if once those big bodies were airborne, they couldn’t steer! :lau

The light brahma's I've have were all rather clumsy....
....they were all named Beulah Bumbler.
The first 2 which I got as adults were the reason I added ramps and a bigger nest perch.
Nimble they are not.

Thanks all
The funny thing is she can jump straight up really high she just cant figure out how to go up and forward so she can land on something.

I've watched her try and was funny but I felt bad for her at the same time lol

Bantam Brahmas are great, standards, not so much. At least that's how I felt about mine. I don't have any in my flock now...

I have a buff bantam brahma roo. And I had a standard lt brahma. She was sort of special..meaning she was the only egg I hatched and really was attached to me and was in the house with me for a couple months before I moved her out
I would be working at my computer because I work from home and my chicks have all stayed in the room with me
Anyway, josie my lt brahma would jump up on my shoulder, head or wherever she could to be with me.
So I think I am just comparing them
