Lt.Sussex

I have tried many from the first and third, they are out of business.others no answer.
Chicken scratch has none now, which is when I need it.
I have a grieving hen.

Yes,I looked across the country.i also put an ad in farm section.i would drive up very far to pick one up.so,I guess I'll keep looking, putting more ads on Craigslist.
One problem, though, not all people vaccinate for Mereks,,which must be done in egg,or 1 day old.
I can vaccinate Newcastle,bronchitis, coccidiosis etc.later.
In addition, some light Sussex are now bred for production purposes.they look much different.tall thinner.not plump and fluffy.much less featheres.the breeder does state this, however.

I had found a 6 month lt.sussex,however they don't vaccinate Mareks or anything,because owner has Lupus,understandable.
He told me that any chickens that gets vaccinated will die in 2 years because the vaccine gave them Mareks.that he has seen this without fail!that the breeder chickens he buys with vaccines die in 2 years, every one.
Plus, his NPIP inspector told him this as well.
Is this true?
I want my year olds to live a long time.this awful to hear, and saddening.
Do people have older living chickens with vaccines?

Does anyone know where to find light Sussex pullets? Even a young hen.

Use this link to find breeders and hatcheries in your state that are NPIP. If in a US territory, they have listings for those, but different link.
http://www.poultryimprovement.org/statesContent.cfm
The listings can be many pages long, but all pages are not full so keep scrolling through the listings for your state.

If not in the US or territories, then adding your location would be useful.

You'll notice breed codes, so here are the codes for regular size Sussex:

Good Luck.

I don't have any personal experience with Mareks, or the vaccine, but have read several places that its not a sure shot that the bird won't get Mareks.
You may want to post your question in the Emergencies and Disease forum.

Yes,they can still get it,but this breeder is saying the ones without the vaccine live, the ones with the vaccine die in 2 years.and the inspector said the vaccines are what killed them.not catching it naturally.
