I had a broody hen and let her sit and hatch out some eggs. Two hatched on Sunday. One was dead when I found them and another died a little later. I moved her nest box and the rest of the eggs and my hen into a dog crate. At the same time I was collecting eggs from the other nest. Weeeellllll I must have mixed the two. I brought two eggs in and left them on the counter. The next morning my cat was meowing for her morning egg. I took one of the eggs off the counter and started to crack it into her bowl. And there was a baby chick! I was so upset. I was on my way to work. So I put the egg back outside under the mama hen. Monday evening it was still in the shell, but chirping. And yesterday I had a new baby chick! So far his/her name is Lucky.

That's neat! Not so lucky as that chick, are you Cat? =P I bet she would have loved a nice fresh chickie. I can't believe it survived not being under the hen! Congrats on your new baby. :)
