Well, I had an exciting morning! I got in my car to go to the store today and hit my head on the corner of an open compartment on the ceiling in the car. At first I thought it wasn't anything, just a bad bump, then I saw blood, yuck. So I went in the house and looked in the mirror and found that I had a huge laceration. So my Dh had to come home from work and bring me to the ER, because I wasn't feeling that I should drive. Well, lucky me, my laceration was bad enough to need a staple! Now that sucked! Kerchunk! And I didn't even get any good pain meds.

Wow, that's nasty. I might be a bit more proactive and either round off the edge of that compartment, or else put some kind of padding there. That's really unfortunate.

But hey, you have a staple and I don't

Actually I feel pretty good. They only gave me a giant Motrin, and it's working, don't know how I'll feel when it wears off. :|

Actually the compartment's not broken, someone (my DH

15 minutes is quite a long time! Did you apply direct pressure?

Haha, someone would be very unfortunate to split their head open around me. I could see me kicking into action mode, wrapping a shirt, a towel, or something around their head and tying it off with my belt or another shirt

You know, surprisingly, large lacerations don't really hurt as much as let's say a paper cut between your fingers. I guess it depends on where it is but your scalp isn't the most sensitive area of your body. I had a 3/4 inch laceration on my collar bone that was all the way though the skin, done at a surgeons, never took any pain meds, and didn't even feel it... even after the local anesthetic wore off.

I did actually.

Something I learned in Girl Scouts, lol. It wasn't heavy bleeding for the most part, but it still sucked.
