I just wanted to update everyone on my geese Lucy and Moose. I was given some eggs from a farm back in April. I was told they were Pekin and Embden eggs. I put them in the incubator and hatched 3 beautiful babies! 2 geese and 1 duck. However, my geese looked totally different from eachother, so I called the farmer and found out that he actually has a Toulous and Chinese goose pair as well. Well, that is what I got! I have 1 Embden, 1 Chinese Toulous mix and 1 Pekin? I have been posting pictures of Moose and Lucy since their birth. Questioning their pure bred state. Not only is Moose a mix, but I'm beginning to think Lucy is now too!

The reason I'm posting this thread is because since day one of incubating, you have all been here to help me with questions. The intentions on hatching these eggs was to return them to the original farm. However, after all the reading I did on here, I found the farm was not the best place to take them back to. The farmer said I could bring them back or keep them, as the eggs were literally scattered all over the farm in random places. The chances of them hatching naturally were zero. They have no shelter, are free range only and not fed, and likely to be culled in the Spring. Because we had become so attached to these 3, we were desperate to find a safer home. The best I could find was a petting farm/park. Yes, ther is a pond and ducks and geese, however, they are not fed and have zero protection. In fact, when I went to visit the farm just last week, I came across a pile of white feathers. When I asked the farmer about them, she said, "oh, an owl took out a duck, it happens 2-3 times a month". "Also, the coons and hawks get them about 2-3 times a month as well". I was going to vomit! What was I going to do. We love these birds so much we have traveled now twice up north with them! 3.5 hours in the car one way! We love them so much! I even tried posting in the Social Michigan forum. No one wanted them. I know now why people might choose to dump them at a pond, no one wants them! However, I was not going to do that! By chance, one of my friends on facebook, that lives near my up north home contacted a friend of his to see if she would want them. She has a small farm with horses, dogs, cats, chickens and 2 ducks. She said she wanted them!!! They would be her pets, not dinner, and she has protection for them!!! I'm over the moon excited! I'm taking them next weekend to their new forever home. We can visit as much as we want! Also, I'm bringing a ton of food and treats and a pool for them! I will miss them horribly, but I know they will be in good hands. I have also learned, if you are going to hatch babies, don't name them, don't snuggle with them and don't get close, or you'll never be able to part with them!

Here are my pictures of Lucy and Moose. I will be posting this thread in the duck forum as well, but with pictures of my duck, as they have been helpful as well.

Thank you all for your help! I will post pictures of their new home next week!

You are a very responsible person and I applaud you for going the extra mile in finding a home for your 2 geese and duck. Sounds like an awesome place and look forward to seeing pics of them there. Love these pics too. Thanks so much for letting us in on the adventure.
