Title says it all. That's whom I become since I got my first birds about 3 months ago, and already had my first run in with a hawk. I honestly never knew so many were inside the Dallas area until I started watching for them. I have 8 bantams which is now 7. I've been reading on byc for a while, and always see people saying be prepared to lose some due to predators. Naturally I thought this wouldn't be the case with me. I'll never forget that feeling I had when I saw my golden sebright being carried away. I have another sebright that wasn't the same the fast day or so after. But that's my first predator experience to go along with my first chickens experience. I got them for my daughter and I are we just love chicken tv. I have a speckled one that I call the little running back because it reminds me of football so much the way it runs. Well that's my intro and keep your eyes to the sky's peeps!!

I haven't built my coop or run yet, so when I take them out now I either sit and watch or put them in a make shift pen I built

Hawks are fast, they even attack dogs on leashes, in Chicago and other major cities. They are not afraid of humans and they are so fast you just can't react in time. Covered runs are the best place for birds to be.
