I’ve recently noticed that my female quail (who is around 2.5 years old) has like a lump in her abdomen. It’s seems like the whole lower underneath area is a lump. It’s stiff to touch. No other symptoms of any sorts.
Ps she stopped laying (due to age) a couple of months back so I don’t think she’s egg bound.
Any advice would be great :)

Pics? She is rather old for a coturnix quai, so it could be age related, but it's hard to say without more information.

Her abdomen looks quite swollen. Has it gotten worse in the last 3 weeks? Looking at this, I would take one of the following choices:
1 - take her to an avian vet
2 - make her as comfortable as you can for the rest of her life or until she's obviously suffering
3 - cull, especially if she is obviously suffering.

No it hasn’t gotten worse. What does this mean though?

Also I should add - she is quite a chunky wee quail. Not overweight just big 😁 so perhaps that photo may make it seem larger than it is, not sure.

I'm not a vet and I can't physically examine her, but based on what looks like a very swollen abdomen and based on your description of it being hard, I'm guessing (and I could very well be wrong) a tumor of some sort.

She is 2.5 years old, which is old, but not ancient for a coturnix quail, so things are more likely to go wrong as they age.
