Lump on hen's cheek?

I don't know what's wrong with my California Grey hen... She hasn't been laying eggs for about 2 weeks and I just thought she was molting. Yesterday I see her with this on her face! It looks like a bee stung her or something!? What should I do about it? Will it go away soon and will she start laying eggs again? I hope she's okay... she wasn't looking so well today...

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Your post reminds me that I don't really know THAT much about chicken anatomy so I did some googling and found this site: http://www.poultryhub.org/poultrypedia/anatomy-of-the-chicken-learning-resource/

That being said, I don't know what you're dealing with - but given the location, have you opened her beak (pull down gently on the wattles) and taken a look inside? Maybe she had a splinter or something on the inside of her mouth. Is it a hard lump or squishy??

Has anyone ever encountered this? Is it just a bug bite? I'm scared... she's one of my sweetest girls and I don't want to lose her
