Hi,
I hope this is the right place to post this question.
I recently successfully hatched out two chicks from under my broody hen and they have been doing really well.
They are now around 11 weeks old and both confirmed to be girls.
Today, I spotted something weird on my welsummer chick's (connie's) face. There is a pea-sized lump, directly behind her eye on both sides. I have looked it up but found nothing similar on the internet- I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is? She is absolutely fine in herself, and shows no discomfort when I touch the lumps.

It is like this on both sides.
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure...is there a hard-ish lump in it? The only thing I can think of is bumble foot or cancer, but if it's not bothering her I'm sure it's not cancer. Obviously bumble foot is on the foot, but maybe the same type of infection? However, she'd probably be annoyed at you touching it. I just don't know.

Yes, it's so weird. The lumps feel quite hard but definitely don't hurt her.

My guess would be that it is an infection in the sinuses. Pus in chickens in solid and waxy like cheese, so the fact that it is hard might indicate that.
Has she had any respiratory symptoms.... sneezing, bubbly eyes etc? Usually a sinus infection will be as a result of a respiratory infection.

If it feels firm but pliable and there are cold-like symptoms, @rebrascora is probably right. However, if the lump is a hard blob that you can feel around and there are no other symptoms, I think you should do a surgery--but perhaps wait to see if it grows bigger.
Either way, something can be done, because there should be no lump there! :D

Thank you for your replies!❤@Eggcessive there doesn't seem to be any stings or marks on them.
@rebrascora no symptoms like those that I've yet noticed, but I'll keep a close eye on her in case she develops any.
@littlefarmgirl9 I'd say it's more a hard blob, but difficult to say really. I'll keep monitoring her and tell you all if anything changes.
The way I'd describe the position of the lumps are like blinkers you'd find on a cart horse.
