Hi All--I have a six week old ameraucana pullet that has an enlarged right breast, like a big lump just to the right of the keel bone about the size of a third of a golf ball. It's firm like muscle, doesn't appear to be sensitive when pressed, it's fully feathered with no sign of a wound, and so on. Other than this malformity, she's in very good shape, about the third largest of the five clutch mates, good appetite, good energy, and so on. She's just very asymmetrical up front. The other four birds are fine.

Thoughts? Could this be a tumor?

Its just her crop, it fills up after eating, and will eventually go down, then fill back up when she eats again, nothing to be worried about

i'm not a beginner and sometimes i am surprised at how big some of my girls crops get before bedtime - like golf balls, or even basket balls, jutting out of their chests, to the right. They look deformed. But they go down by morning, so all is well.

Thank goodness for this forum!

I was just about to post the same thing about my 12 week old silkie. I just found the same type of lump on his breast and I was worried it was something serious.

He's one of the sweetest roosters; I'd be devastated if he had something wrong with him.

He absolutely cracked me up this morning. He went running like the devil across the yard with his head down and his wings out to chase off this tiny little chickadee that landed near the coop.

BIG sigh of relief here!
I was picking up each of my girls and feeling them up! LOL
Poor Mae was horrified at the attention.
