Lupines?

It still amazes me that in this day and age, people still litter. I'm constantly finding beer cans and bottles tossed along the snowmobile and atv trails on our land. I'm seriously considering closing the land to public access because of the mess that's left behind.
Back in the good old days, there was a national campaign to prevent littering, including some pretty harsh fines. Remember seeing the road signs that said "$500 fine for littering"?

Yeah... Back in the days when my dad would toss his cigarette butt out the window of the family truckster, and road sides were covered with trash. Today is so much better - but jeepers what people will do when no one is looking. I feel like a jerk chasing off the kids drinking beer in the woods on my land. Probably wouldn't care if they'd at least respect the land.

People have no respect whatsoever. People will dump unwanted dog and puppies out here, they litter, they drive by noisily during the night(and sometimes during the day) and recently we've had someone stop and use the bathroom out in one of the pastures. People make me sick.

My DH has a real affection for the little creeks and rivers that are in our area, where he has lived all his life. A few years ago he started making regular rounds to the popular swimming/party holes, especially on Sunday evenings, to pick up trash left by the weekend partyers. Month after month he would pick up soiled diapers, beer cans, odd food items and old shoes. He would leave an empty trash bag hanging on a stake near the parking lots, and remove full ones. Eventually the sites started to look cleaner, and he would find that folks cleaned up after themselves. We went to one of the places yesterday, and the only piece of trash we found was an empty soda can.
I'm not sure what the moral of this story is, but I just wanted to let you know not all country folks are pigs.

Nice! That's a great story about someone's work that made a change in peoples' habits for the better.

The last three dump-offs, yes we had to. I'm even considering having a few cans of dog food on hand just for such emergencies. The dump-offs are usually starving.

Yeah, I didn't mean to get off the subject of lupines by griping at the way people do. @JanetMarie , Lupine seeds are easily bought, you could grow you some if you miss them.
