Lurk lurk lurk

Hi I'm in Oregon too.

Hi Estrie! And keep lurking. Been doing it for awhile myself. And I know how things are. I've been unemployed for almost TWO YEARS! Job opportunities are lousy. I'm both overqualified and underqualified for even a cashier job at the local convenience store. I've been in management so long, I don't know how these newfangled registers work. I know I could learn, and quickly. But with 30 other people applying for the job ...
Anyway, I hope I find something soon. My savings are almost gone, and I have 7 goats, 12 hens, 2 roos, 37 chicks, 5 dogs, and 2 cats counting on me. Talk about pressure.

Good luck with your interviews

, I can't even get that far.

Yeah, I am the same way. Overqualified for entry level (and too old, apparently at 52) and underqualified (due to not having completed my degree) for lots of Social Work jobs. I will probably get on with the state eventually, but whether we will have to move or not remains to be seen.
We are living in my mom and dad's old place that they can't sell and have cheap rent, thanks to my dad's generousity, and we have a tiny little private income for the next year, but we, too, have run through our savings. Thank god we own our car and have no other debt!!
I have an interview for a part time job as a church secretary tomorrow and a Case Manager job for Child Support on Thursday, so we will see. My husband is from Australia and is not allowed to look for work just yet. Long story.

Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome!!

Well. No chickens. so what? Check out the other threads. There are cooking, and baking, canning, and soap making, there are knitters and crocheters, and some quilters. There are jokes-most are worth the effort to read and some aren't, (there is a super long joke that takes hour to read...skip that one.)
There are threads on emergencies, and feed, and coops... join the conversations. Pick a recipe. I would try the 10 egg pound cake first. Really. Then you will realize the need for chickens. If they laid chocolate eggs, only then could they be as good as the 10 egg pound cake. really.
The random ramblings are usually a hoot. There are some really, really funny people on this site...really.
One guy will post you tube links that are hilarious or poignant. they are worth the look. This site is very well monitored so it stays clean and healthy. grandma would be happy.
Okay, I have gooshed enough. I still have my boots on from the latest coop visit and they are starting to make my eyes water. whew...

Anyway Welcome to BYC!
