Lurker finally becomes a member

@Charmdbychicks I'm sure you'll fall in love with your chicks (and hang on to them forever)! It's always smart/comforting to have a back-up plan though =)

I'm planning on building my own coop (who pays $1000 pre-made for one when you can build one for less than $200?! think of all the chickens you can buy with that money!) I'm a little apprehensive since I have no skills or experience in carpentry, but it still sounds pretty exciting and should be fairly straightforward.

I'm 100% sure you can find some DIY budget coops out there (I've seen some already)! I've got to start researching some plans :S

We're going to convert our preexisting shed into a coop. After all, we never remove anything from it so we must not need what's in it now. What I learned in speech class (of all places) is that when you go to build a new building put together the frames of the walls first, then take them out to wherever you're going to assemble it and put them together there. That's how houses go up so fast.
And yes, my coworker is SO not going to be getting my chicks! They are fun to play with, cool to research and basically eat up all of my free time. I love eet!

Welcome to BYC!

We're glad to have you.

So, I just got word from bhep that my 12+ serama hatching eggs should be shipping out Monday or Tuesday... and I have a brand new Brinsea Mini Advance set up already... I've also been eyeing their Octagon 20 model as well...

Look what you guys have done!!

Also, I just made chicken diapers... pretty proud of myself because I was successful on my first try! I haven't sewn anything since elementary school!
