I had a rooster just like him, grew up to have the oddest, yet most beautiful coloration! Here is a picture of him when he was a cockerel (He's the one in the back with the golden hackles):

The difference between he and Jasper was that, when he grew up, his tail was not black, but a strange mix of brown streaks, some few dots of black, but made up of mostly white. The feed store I bought him from said he was an Amber sex-link, and when I asked where they got their chicks from, the clerk simply replied, "A number of places, I think one of them is like... 'Ideal' something." Knowing that, I think it's possible that my boy may have been a wierd mutt of some sort.

I loved him, he was so sweet. I got to hold him and cuddle him, he loved every minute of it and would fall asleep on my lap. Gave him up because of incessant crowing and his habit of 'protecting' me from my mother.

Let's get back on topic now, everyone.

Thanks! He could be an Amber Link, because I have AL hens that have the golden around their necks like that. He probably was AL, then.
