so come on post your costs!

Yes, it is expensive to get started. I don't see anything on your list about housing or brooding.

Then it continues to be expensive to buy feed and buy birds.

Fun hobby, though

Once you are set up, the feed is the main cost. If it is costing too much, you can reduce your bird numbers.

Many on here get more and more birds, and I have fallen into that trap myself, I mean, I walk into the feed store, saying I need 6 chicks, walking out with a dozen.

But, come the fall, I have for the last two years, made my flock between 8-10 head. It works well for my coop/run, does not break the bank for feed. Annnnnndddd, in the spring I can do new chicks.

If you persist in this you'll be surprised at how expensive your eggs are.

I did alot of trolling on freecycle and craigslist for our coop and materials, so we ended up not having that expense (unless you count my time spent finding it all). That being said, my last trip to the co-op cost me almost 75 big ones. I got-
1 50lb bag of laying pellets
1 50lb bag of 2 grain scratch
1 50lb bag of Super Breeder crumbles
And 2 bales of dry nest

I have about 30 or so birds, and that usually lasts me about (almost) a month
