Mad at this Island!

I dont know, I guess I look at it a little differently. They are your pets right? So it is your responsibility to keep your pets contained in your yard regardless if other chickens are running amok on the island. I guess I see it like this: How would you feel if someone just let their dogs run loose? Some people just dont like other peoples pets in their yards. I know it drives me nuts when someones dog/cat comes into my property and poops/digs in my trash when I pick up after my own pets. Ugh - its so very aggrevating especially when they bother my chickens and get them all aggrevated. We also have people up the road that have chickens and I would be mightly upset if their chickens got loose and into mixing with my birds or into my garden. I love my chickens but not theirs....I dont let my own girls into my garden or flowerbeds so I certainly dont want anyone elses in there either.

Also look at it like this: who would be at fault if that persons free dog/cat killed one of your birds that were also free roaming? Neither pet were in either owners respective areas....I guess I just like to keep my pets/farm animals in my control at all times to avoid conflicts such as above.

I hope you can get your pen up and running so you can keep all your beautiful birds safe, happy and healthy

They are very pretty indeed!

PS> I too would love to own a mango tree in my back yard!

Thanks for the beautiful pics of you area. My step son lives on your island. I understand chickens are everywhere in Hawaii and are sometimes considered pests. I met someone from Hawaii who spends their lunch feeding the wild chickens in her town. I think this person is a she, anyway, that person wishes they could take the birds home, but they just continue to feed them and watch them and their chicks. Sounds like you have a nice yard, just need to adapt it somehow. I live in the Desert in California. My coupes are nothing more than 2x3's and wire. OSB on top for roofs cause we have chicken hawlks and concrete on the floor, cause we have coyotes. You can click on my page to see my coupes. Good luck to you with your neighbors, I do agree with another member, share your eggs with them and they will enjoy you having chickens in time.
