 alright so just a few mins ago i heard one of the neighbors from down below come on to talk with another neghbor about the chickens running around down to his yard(that is filled with grass and dead trees and all kinds of junk) but he was complaineing and wonder'd where they came from.

yes there my chickens and its my fult for letting them roam free infront of my house but I would never of thouht they would go that far down

2nd then he went off about my birds having diseases, which i got really mad and wanted to shoot him. my birds are all vac's.

then towards the end i guess my other neghbor said "i guess the grandma has to tell the boy to keep the birds inside".

I already know how to solve this prob. I have a huge space in the back of my house. see I live on the side of a mountain, kinda high up. but my backyard is a mountain with mango trees and bushys n stuff(its actually messy cause no one cleaned it for a long while) but I havent had enough money to build a coop. so i guess tonight when all my chickens go in their cage I gotta carry it up behind my house. theres a wire fence back there but i dont know if its still intact(see we use to have ducks geeses and peacocks when I was 6). and its been 16 years since we had birds around my house. but anyways.

the other thing that got to me was reading all these news reports about chickens invadeing oahu(hawaii) and people complaining about them crowing in the morning and running around everywhere. ahhhhhhhh!!

you know.. Chickens have been in hawaii waaaaaaaay waaaaaaaay back in the day. The first polynesians brought the chickens to hawaii by canoe. Its not the chickens invadeing hawaii, its more like the people are invadeing them. Theeeen you got people complaining about keeping oahu country cause their building all these new rail systems and malls(thats another story) but to get to the point. if you want to keep it country stop complaining about the things that are contry. haaaaaaaww

im sorry I just needed to get this out cause ever since i got my chickens which was 5 months ago, only now i been seeing how hateful people are towards them. OH! and esspecially people that use to have chickens when they were younger but now complain(I over heard the neighbor talking about him having ducks), my god..

and 1 more thing. theres so much places(thats packed with filipinos) in town with loose chickens running around, and nobody complains. and Im sitting here with an area thats a jungle getting bomb at. ahhh! I swear these people ahhhh! oh im from Cali(sacramento) by the way but I been here on hawaii for 5 years. actually my grandmas house. these people are just unbelieveable. anyone else have a problem like mines. it just makes me go nuts.

Well, I'm sorry that you are having problems. Really, the only way to fix it would be to confine them in the back of the house. Be resourceful, you don't have to spend a lot of money to keep them contained.

I have visited Oahu twice. The first time for a month and the second for 6 wks. I love it there. I did see the "wild" chickens when I was there.

It's so beautiful there. You are very lucky to be in paradise everyday. I was in Waipahu, a block behind the Wal-Mart there. It was a very nice neighborhood.

Anyway, I hope you can figure something out for your chickens. With so many military people around, surely you can find a used dog pen or some type of enclosure for them at a reasonable price. Good luck.

When I was stationed there (95-98) military housing was open to the public and yard sales were every saturday, with so many people transfering in and out I too would think you could find a good used dog kennel pretty cheap as these people transfering are looking to unload the big stuff! You do indeed live in paradise!

Aloha Nui Loa!
If you have the old chicken/duck/peacock pen, just check it over and make repairs if needed. That would probably be easier and cheaper than building a whole new one. You can always add on to it later if you need to.
You need to remind your neighbors of the kamaaina lifestyle, growing/raising food at home. Let them know you have the birds for eggs/meat, not for cockfighting or just as pets. Then offer to sell them any extra eggs you get. They might look at them a little differently then.

aww i feel relived hearing from all of you. sorry for my complaineing, but yea Im going to move them to the back, i just needed some time to sit and thaw out. Im just really protective of them lol. there like my kids now hahaha. but thank all of you for your response. ill up to date you guys on my actions with them. take care all

You live in Oahu, Hawaii?! I really want to visit there (not live there since they don't allow alot of animals I can't live without) because that's where they film Lost

I want to go on tours of where they film and stuff. Plus its so pretty and awesome there.

Honey, I feel your pain, but I'd take all your problems in a heartbeat for mangos in my backyard!

lol so would I. I LOVE mangos.

Yeah, when i went to Kuwaii there were chickens everywhere!

And they were pretty calm, we went to burger king and a hen and some teen-chicks walked right past us under our feet
