Got two duck eggs from a friend as her laying duck was killed. Put them under our broody hen. When the Hen got off we put them in the bator .

One hatched early yesterday. It punched threw the side of the egg and is a monster! THe other egg had a pip but this little fellow wont leave it alone. I caught him earlier punching out bits of egg and so we built a "wall" with his water and feed bowl to keep him away from the other one. Went in just now to find the little darling is sitting in the feed bowl and yanking the wing of the half hatched other one. I am not sue who has done what to the egg because it seems to be a joint effort? This one wont leave it alone! I got worried earlier as thee was blood on the head of the one hatching and the other was stood on his face! Every time he hears it make a sound he is over like a shot!!!!
IS THIS OK AND NORMAL? The other one has his beak out half a foot and a wing but his body is mostly in the shell - it is quite funny to see one pulling at the other? The hens chicks didn't do this???

Answered your PM, but yes, some will get very impatient for their friends to hatch... is the membrane moist on the one still in the egg? Has it started a zip line at all?

Ok monster chick busted out of his shell a full 24 hrs before he was due. Then he was seen bashing bits off the other egg. We built a wall to stop him with his water and feed - Yes he was gobbling down food already. so it didn't surprise us to find him sat in the feed dish yanking the other guy from his shell by the wing. He was later seen turning the poor thing round and round while standing on his face in the shell opening!
He finally managed itand the other guy was pulled out. Now they are best buddies and enjoying each other. At the moment they are sleeping all screwed up together. They are in the brood box . 3 more Duck eggs and 3 hens eggs are now in the incubator!
