Mad LOVE for bantum Cochins!!!

they are almost 3 months old.
Oh....and another thing...what is the standard for them on their tails (I think ya call it a tail...I need to pay more attention at my sons 4H meetings) The white ones tail is longer and sticks staight up in the air.

Generally all cochins tails should be rounded, even males. Theirs will kind of come out like a waterfall of streamer feathers, but kind of resemble an old timey bustle dress.

Okay, back. Here are some pics of mine (I no longer have the buffs, but only had one black roo so showing pics of the buffs.)

Bantams are the miniatures of the Standard (regular) size chickens~~

On my bantams, I can almost put my hands around the body when I pick the hens up. On the standards, I have to tuck them under my arm to carry them.
My avatar is one of my bantam roos. He is about 10 months old in that photo.

I am with you on the white Silkies. I don't care for that color. I really wanted buff but have wound up with blue, splash and black.
I have white Cochins, too and am not crazy for the color but they sure seem to stay cooler in this hot sunny weather.

Love to see pics of them! I picked a chick from the assorted bantams bin because it was a very soft blue color and it's a blue bantam cochin.....(and a frizzle

ive got blacks, whites, golden laced, silver, frizzle,buff and they are all great tempered and wonderfully patient with my kids. the frizzles seen to get more attention, but the silkie/cochin cross is favorite with my family (cochin w/a top knot). My cross laid her first dozzen eggs and went broody!

Well, Cindy, that's why I have never bought a chick where I didn't know the breed or sex, LOL. I have very "limited" tastes and frizzles aren't on the GOOD LIST.

If you want some SMOOTH blue cochin babies, let me know and I'll send you some eggs once the girls are kicking in enough regular. The one just came off being broody and starting laying again. I'm not sure if hers are fertile, yet, but the other one is. It's a splash roo (used to be a shown winner ) with black hens. I'd be glad to send you some if you wanna try them...and I gurantee NO frizzles. hehe

Aw, how nice! Thank you, Cindy. Not sure yet if I want more Cochins, but this one is very pretty with nice foot feathering for a hatchery bird. If I like him, and it probably is a him with my luck, I may just take you up on that. Again, thank you so much!
