MadamPoofyBrow's Super Awesome Chat Thread!

Thanks guys :'( I'll candle again in the morning and look for movement.

No, I usually use an incubator, but let the broodies do it whenever they want. I once had a cochin attack a chick..she is off my mama list! I never expected it from a Silkie to abandon the eggs...they've done great until now.

Their second mama left on day seventeen. I turned them one more day, upped the humidity, and left them alone, expecting some peeps soon. Maybe they're just going slower...

I've hatched around...hmmm...three hundredish? chicks in the last five years. I've had chickens since I was like 1, but five years ago I got my first 'very own' flock that I was responsible for. Three POlish. Now there's eighty of all sorts of things...I sell eggs and chicks to pay for the food. It breaks about even...though I do have to pay some extra from my pocket...like today when I had to get animal bandage stuff for my rooster's hurt leg.

You guys make me jealous that at such young ages you're hatching eggs. I never did anything like that at that age. So cool.
Haha, thanks. I've only done 3 artificial hatches, but I've had lots of hatches under Broodies.

I've had two and a third is on its way!! I have a mean hen too and I've had to gaffle her chicks!!! She's killed many.

Wow Madam, you've got quite the operation! I plan on getting some Sq silkies, Polish, and frizzles and hatching and selling chicks. Soon.

My first pair was SQ. WCB Polish that costed a fortune. I had in my mind I could make a fortune off of them...if payed off enough to get me some more SQ...I breed Polish (WCB, cuckoo, Crele, Gold Laced, and Self Black) Silkies and Sizzles in skadoodles of colours, Cochins in Mille Fleur, Black, and Blue, and Seramas...a blue and a red..they had white chicks...odd...
Just retired my first hen, Madam Poofy Brow, cause shes's nor laying any more. Very sweet girl though :-D
