So I have two hovabators 1588 - their temps have stayed wonderful, everything has been great with them, I'm VERY happy with the situation.

But I just placed batch #1 on lockdown on Saturday.
Batch #2 need to go on lockdown on Tuesday (which is day 21 for batch #1)
Batch #3 are supposed to go on lockdown on Friday (which is day 21 for batch #2)

If all from batch #1 are hatched by day 21 (which is doubtful, right?), then I would easily be able to time the other two batches for lockdown correctly.

But I screwed up.

Any suggestions?

Leave the unhatched eggs in with batch #2, pull them when they hatch, or a day after the last one hatches. Lather rinse repeat for batch two as well. Just be quick, maybe mist the eggs left inside quickly and lightly when you close the bator.

keep the humidity up, and pull the dried chicks out.............. watch for pips and add water, maybe even mist the eggs. you'll be fine. I had a staggered hatch one was due Sat and the next on moday. I had chicks hatching from Friday till tues. fun fun!!!

good luck and

Oh, and if (when) your bator starts to smell awful from hatching debris, warm water and high humidity, put the lockdown eggs into the other bator, even if you have to put them on top of a full batch of eggs, and give it a quick rinse and scrub with hot water, even if you don't have time to completely sterilize it and let it dry in between. You'll at least get rid of 90% of the bacteria between hatches.
