Made in America Challenge

My dad tries to buy only "made in America" products. When my sisters got their prom dresses my dad said if they could find modest dresses made in America, he'd help pay for them. They did find modest American made dresses, so it made everybody happy.

No Christmas shopping at our house, but I have already spent well over $64 on made in America gifts for my dh and kids this year.

I was really disappointed that the slippers I was going to get my DH from LL Bean are no longer made in the USA. They use to be, guess I will keep looking!

Lodge ironware for me LOL! Love that stuff! Just bought old Saladware cookware as well, made in USA (TX). Talk about durable!

Clothes are the pits when trying to find American made.

If you look on The Container Store's website, you can filter so that only goods made in the USA show up. They have a special drop-down menu for it. Shoes are really hard to find. Munro makes its shoes in America, but they only sell through other retailers like Nordstrom. Tupperware used to be mostly made in the USA but now it's in Mexico. Pyrex still makes just about all of its glassware here, so you can get some great American-made kitchen dishes through them. Clothing is hard to come by. Sometimes Wet Seal and Forever 21 have American made knits, usually T-shirt type tops. You really have to hunt, though. Good luck to everyone trying to support American-made goods. If the demand is there, the supply will be, too.
