madrona shavings?

We just had a madrona trunk turned into shavings. So we have alot of it. Its not dusty at all because they're all big solid chunks. I do not smell anything and I plan on using it in the run to stop having a muddy run and then I can also use a bit of a deep litter method.
what do you guys think?

Good plan! as long as arbutus trees are not poisonous (never heard of them).

No personal experience, but a quick google search seems to indicated there are no problems with Madrona.
