Maggots coming out of our eggs

Thats the strangest part! We already did the 1 week candling and threw out all the bad ones (which was about half) when we found the 1st larvae. Yestrday was week 2 so it was candling time again and we found about 20+ in the bator with the Quail eggs. It WAS so nasty!

. So out of 150 to start with, we now have 72 including the Quail. I dont know whats next. The screen idea is great! The only problem, if flies are getting in through the holes, they could get in through the bottom too. Should i just put screen on the outside of it and tape it on?

I've just had this happen as well, a long horrifying night later I'm wondering if they will only go for the dead eggs or if they will murder my babies trying to hatch...any advice?

I'd like to know as well. This is my first time incubating eggs, and maggots all over 3 (out of 40) eggs. I'm so disturbed right now.

I just had the same problem!! I have been turning my duck eggs twice a day. But today there were maggots!!!! :sick:sick:sick:sick:sick:sick:sick:sick I found one eggs that had a tiny tiny pin point hole. This was my first try with an incubator so I’m afraid I did something wrong. I like the suggestion of the screen over the holes and will try that. Fingers crossed.
