Maggots eating newborn rabbits

They were super clean and I have a few. Another rabbit gave birth a week before and she neglected hers and they died but they didn’t have any. Seriously the night before they were ok and the next morning were skeletons. I’d show pics but I think people would be grossed out.
Well after seeing your doe, she's so clean and pretty, I doubt the other was colonized. REWs tend to show anything like that since their fur is so danged white. (I had REW mini rex and regular REW rex rabbits so I'm not pulling it from nowhere, promise!)

Good luck with this litter! I can't wait to see more of them awww.

Thank you just so bizarre. These are my almost two month olds... the only litter that made it. I’m hoping this litter will be ok too. I’m just doing a temporary wrap with a tent screen.

So sorry you lost those babies. Flying bugs have been awful this year. I spray permethrin on the legs of the cage and underneath the base that the cage sits on. I had a baby get stung and she was incontinent for over a month.

It does seem like there have been more posts this year on flying insect problems. Several posts on people losing birds to buffalo gnats. Must just be a really bad year. Hope these babies do well!!

Thank you. I’m being really careful with them. Last year was really bad with the flies but I didn’t have the rabbits then. The farmer had left his manure pile unattended for so long I called the county to complain. It was awful.

If you don't have barn cats or ferals that you care about, permethrin is really great for fly control. I used to be super anti-chemical but honestly at this point I'd rather the skeeters not eat me alive!
