the wound is below her vent. We will re-soak her again tomorrow morning. I saw in the article we will need to do that 2 or 3 times a day every day until it starts to heal. I will also get some vetericyn to keep the area clean and dry.
Don't stress about getting that spray.

Most important thing is to get all of the maggots off of her now.

Okay, My wife just went to get her we are gonna do another soak tonight rather than wait till morning. I am going to try to get everything I can see tonight off and start back at it every day.

All the maggots are off of her now. There was only one or two left on her after her other baths. That wound in the picture looks much worse than it really was. there is no depth, it was all on the skin level. We are drying her off and keeping her in the chicken hospital area. We will continue to do this every day until we see that she is 100% better!

Do you have some plain neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment you can apply to the wound?
If not, then I would apply some vaseline, coconut oil, etc. to help keep the wound moist and protected from poop that may get in it.

Glad you were able to get the maggots off. Now, as to the cause of wound - hard to know. Has your hen had any problems with laying eggs? Do you notice if her abdomen where the wound is located is swollen?

Yes, we do! We are putting some Neosporin on the wound.

My wife said that she found one egg a few weeks ago that had something that looked like a small blood streak on it. But it has not happened sense and we had no way of knowing which bird it was from. And nothing but the area around the wound is swollen. I will upload another picture

You've done a nice job cleaning the wound.
I would apply the ointment, see if she will drink a bit for you and maybe eat a bite too.

Let her rest (you too!) and see how it goes in the morning. Hopefully all the maggots are gone.
Flystrike can be from getting a small wound, having poop on the skin and it breaking down or sometimes there's an underlying condition and the hen just is not doing well. Hard to know.
Hopefully she recovers quickly.
The wound, I would flush out every day (more if you find more maggots). Keep the ointment on the wound. I would keep her sheltered where flies can't get back onto the wound right now - that would be detrimental.

Thank you! she is now a house chicken in a safe spot. She already ate some food with some added calcium in it and drank some water with electrolytes in it.

We will just continue to monitor her. I will feel much better if she makes it through the night. Shes currently acting a little strange under her heat lamp but I think she is just soaking up the heat to finish drying off. It's hard to tell with these girls!
