help I have maggots burying in a live hen and I gave her a diluted vinegar bath but it didn’t seem to work any suggestions I don’t want them to eat her alive

Oh no! Fly strike is one of my biggest fears! I am pretty sure you need to clean/flush the wound with something like vetericyn and then remove the nasty little things with tweezers. You have to get all of them out. Ew. And you have to be careful of other chickens pecking at the wound. It's probably best to crate the chicken. Poor birdie.
:sick

Yes. You need to sit down with her and some tweezers and take as many of them out as you possibly can. Then slather the area with antibiotic ointment. Keep her in your hospital crate, then repeat tomorrow. More eggs can hatch overnight, so look closely.

Ok they just seem to be everywhere at once I have tried to get them out with vinegar and some citranilla and it doesn’t work so I will have to have to use tweezers

Yeah, just flushing/bathing isn't enough. You need to actively pick them out with tweezers/your fingers if you're gonna save her.

I'm sorry your babies all died. How awful. :( Do you know why they died?

She does not have a wound I finally got them off of her last night there were over 200 of them

Good job getting so many. That's a lot of work. Just keep an eye on the area to make sure you get any that hatch in the subsequent days. Are you using neosporin or anything?
