Magpie Call ducks.

Wow! Thank you all for your reply! This is why i love this site so much, it get me connected with the people with high knowledge on any breed of farm fowls.

Had any buddy mix a magpie with any of the hens i have and had cool looking duck with non named color?

Do you guys think it's possible, if he breeds with my grey x austrian spotted, I could get magpie looking ducklings with spots?

I'm also just breeding them for fun as pets, I often give them to friends who wants them and sell them to people who just want them has pets too.

Hey I seen that you were the closest in state wise to me. I am looking for some call ducks would like a pair maybe a trio anything but white. I am in North Ga. To happen to know of anyone that breeds them in North Ga or in or around Anderson SC. I am having a hard time finding any up here.

I notice the best time to buy calls in Michigan is around fall and winter, that's when every buddies hens are not laying eggs anymore, so they decide to sell pair that they don't want or trying to reduce their flock for next spring. They are really hard to find them around here and for sure the show quality ones are the most hardest to find. The best way to get SQ calls is when someone is getting out of the calls hobby or going to collage and they don't have the money or time for them anymore.

I have a Magpie call drake and he is the only magpie I have in my call duck flock. I would like to get more magpie duckling out of him if possible with my other colored call duck hen that i have.

The hens colors are:

2. butterscotch x snowy,
1. butterscotch,
1. blue bibbed,
2. grey x austrian spotted.

The drakes colors are:

1. Magpie,
1. Butterscotch,
1. Snowy,
2. black head butterscotch pied.

Is it possible with one of the call hens listed above to have more chances of producing more magpie colors?
Also does anyone know what cool marking and colors I can get out off any of these call ducks, like new colors and looks?

Hi, I have 3 babies left. I know one is definitely a male. I will try to have the other two re-sexed if you are interested. I am asking $20 each. I live in Eaton Rapids, and momma and poppa duck will be at the fairgrounds tomorrow until sometime next weekend.

I would cross the Magpie drake with the bibbed hen. This will give you more of a chance of spotted ducklings than the other hens you listed.
I have found that some calls are funky bred, so even if you have a magpie the genes of that duck may not be soley magpie, therefore you get unexpected offspring (as mentioned). But the only way to tell for sure is to pair up and breed them and see what hatches!

I have a black magpie hen paired with a blue bibbed drake. They didn't end up hatching anything this year, but I am excited to see what they will produce next year. I have been told they will produce white, magpie, bibbed, and possibly other solids, in black, blue, or spash varieties.

I have 3 black and white magpie hens and a blue bibbed drake and I get tons of magpies and a few bibbed.. And occasionaly whites, and oddball colors.... Im switching it up next year as I acquired a realy nice white drake and cant wait to see the quality of babies that they produce next year..

I'm going to be looking for magpie call ducks black or blue if anyone is going to be selling any. I live in Florida. I would also buy hatching eggs. The earlier the better, thanks!
