Magpie wants to be friends with my ducks

The last few weeks I noticed a magpie would come to the fence and chat loud at my ducks
As the time went on the magpie would get closer and closer
Today I was cleaning the duck pen and could hear the magpie very loud
I look and it’s sitting at the duck door looking in
By the time I got my phone out it had moved from the doorway but was still standing with the ducks
Anyone else have a magpie want to be friends with their ducks

I have seen a crow be friendly with a chicken.

I had one egg left outside for weeks as my husky was laying on it very carefully but the magpie never took it
I knew the dog couldn’t incubate the egg but she was so very careful not to break it while sitting on it then laying all the way down
She also lays with the ducks watching over them in the day and beside their duck house if they are inside
As for the food that’s possible
Maybe gaining the trust of the ducks so it can eat their feed lol

I’ve got the same thing going on with a couple of ravens. They follow my chickens around and watch over them while they free range. I’ve also noticed that they chase away hawks, try to keep the magpies, it’s free security!
