Mahonri.....I have a question only a dentist could answer. :)

When I was in high school, I had an infected tooth that needed an emergency root canal. the dentist (and I use the term loosely) drilled in and proceeded to kill the nerve with those little needles WITHOUT NOVICANE! That man was sadist in the true sense of the word. It was worse than childbirth!

I remember going to the dentist as a teen. He overdosed me. I went out to the horse pasture after visiting the dentist and walked right past my horse all the way to the other end of the pasture and couldn't find him. I came racing back to my mom freaking out. It took her forever to calm me down and show me he was right there and I had walked past him. I have a tooth that the crown broke 5 years ago. Because of the fact I am now terrified of dentists ever since the overdose and the fact I don't have insurance I have never gotten it fixed. I overdose every single time.

They give me the shot and try to drill. I scream in pain so they give me another and then I pass out.

I wish Mahonri was my dentist. He sounds great with patients traveling from IL and every where else to visit him.

Nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas", is a chemical compound with the chemical formula N2O. At room temperature, it is a colorless non-flammable gas, with a pleasant, slightly sweet odor and taste. It is used in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic and analgesic effects. It is known as "laughing gas" due to the euphoric effects of inhaling it, a property that has led to its recreational use as an inhalant drug. It is also used as an oxidizer in rocketry and in motor racing to increase the power output of engines.

I think the folks in Alaska are using a trip to the dentist as a cover for a vacation someplace warm....

The only negative dental visit I ever had was finding out that nitrous doesn't work well for me. For the most part I have had very nice, interesting people to treat me, always above and beyond what they had to do. Nope, I don't LIKE going- but I value the toothers, and want to keep them. One Dr. was so nice as to let me watch my own root canal in a mirror! Pretty cool!

Now if Mahonri practiced in South Carolina, I might consider weekly visits.......

PS- I would LOVE to see Miss_Jayne weigh in on this!!!
