Just a quick hello..will take me a week to catch up.
I have been out of commision for a month or better but am O.K. now.
Guess I do not do well on pain meds.I set eggs this week for the Easter hatch....
Then realized I am a month early....O well.
Am hoping my english Orps eggs are fertile ffor next month.
Hope everyone is well and having fun..
Sure good to be back to the computer an BYC
OK so the plan today was make room for the chicks I have ordered and the 63 in the incubator PLUS the Easter hatch. We took 11-6 week old and 22- 16 week old chicks along with 11 dozen eggs to the flea market this morning. Done pretty decent on those items, made $153 (low on price but I needed the room) So we made $153 and then I spent $150, So we only brought back 3 dollars. But guess what I bought.
I bought a GQF 1500 series incubator
, guaranteed to work, it has the Acrylic door already on it. Only thing I seen wrong was the hatching tray is missing.
Now that I have 4 stryos, this GQF and the hatcher that I am building, I will really be able to do some serious hatching.
Never thought I would be able to afford a good incubator but this just fell into my lap. Too good of a deal to pass up.
Happy hatching to everyone.
PS: On the eggs that got down to 35 degrees on day 19. So far we have 7 out of the 10 that have hatched.
We just went out on our 2 week Spring break,, I'm trying to figure out how the fit in our hatch with the 4 day weekends and such we have coming up. Looking at quail, chickens, or ducks and hatching times.
Nope nothing wrong in fact everything is great! I have 9 chicks hatched and two more were working on it when I had to leave for work.
Shhhhhh I am at work now lurking!
Hope to get home to a bunch more hatched out. One of the buff Brahmas finally pipped this morning so I will have at least one of them. The light Brahmas have been hatching like crazy. Six of the nine hatched are the light color. These chicks are incredibly friendly too. I am in
with this breed. On a sadder note, I just read another thread on a valuable silkie being stolen. I really hope the silkie breeders are getting word out to all of their friends to get locks on their coops and runs. So sad to that people are stealing these birds.
I think BYC should come up with a way to mark your spot. Sometimes its hard to figure out where you are at on the long threads. It usually takes me 3 or 4 pages to find where I left off.
NoseyChickens
Hope everything turns out ok with your dad. Have a safe trip.
Happy hatching to everyone.
PS: Final Numbers for the Broody that got off her nest, after 19 days in 35 degree temps. Started with 11 eggs, When she got off them, I candled them and had 10 that had development, and 7 hatched after putting them in an incubator. Total time from set to last hatch 24 days.
