Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

While I was killing some time I located a video on vent sexing ducks. Even though I raise chickens, I think it would be the same. Cant wait to get home and try it out, "Now that I know what I'm looking for".

Does any one know if there is much difference between chickens and ducks?

I hope the links work. I have never tried to post one before.

Just thought some of you would like to see it considering we are about to hatch off a million eggs for easter, well maybe not a million but you all know what I mean.

Happy Hatching Everyone.

I just started an auction for some Dominique large fowl eggs if anyone's interested. They would be shipped in time to take part in this hatch.
There's some information about these birds with the auction listing. They've done well in shows & are a very consistent line.

I will be setting some welsh harlequin duck eggs this Saturday, not sure how many yet. Probably some chinese/pomeranian mix goose eggs however many I can't get rid of. I will be setting 2 dozen black jersey giant eggs on the second.

I am still looking for 2 dozen black bantam cochin eggs, can have some self blue and gold laced mixed in but want mostly black. Anyone know anyone that has some.

Also want some chocolate, choc not dun, serama eggs for a project of mine. They don't have to be for the hatch along but would be nice.

Yes, there is "much difference" between vent sexing ducks and chickens. Their anatomy is different. Try finding a vent sexing link for chickens if you are interested in chickens.

Well, I may have to change gears for the Easter hatch. One of my pullets is broody; screaming like a homicidal velociraptor if anyone gets near the box.

Now everyone wil catch the broody bug, if this year is like last year

My NPIP will come through just in time to shut down my ability to order from most people. I sure hope the millies start laying soon, and give me 2 weeks of eggs before the catch the broody wave

I have not kept up with the thread; working two jobs right now. I apologize if I have missed anything. For those of you who have pen "B" chicks from me here is the latest picture of the male in that pen. He is still a cockerel, not yet a year old. Harold Shaffer breeding. He's in with two nice lav pullets and four Smith pure black pullets. If you've gotten those Smith eggs, you know just how big they are.
