Only if you want the rest of them to go broody. Seems like it catches on once one of them does it.

Congrats BTW!

I have my first broody as well. Haven't noticed any of them catching it. I did notice them practically sitting on the broody to lay an egg so the broody would do the work

SCG: Here is my entry for the funny caption contest. I would like to thank the late 80's movie "Spaceballs" for the inspiration.

Three dozen eggs got here today, and weren't supposed to until tomorrow or Friday! Dangitdangitdangit.

What to do? I guess that I can leave them in the box, and let them sit on the eggs trays Friday morning? As I'm setting Friday afternoon/evening. I mean, it only took one day to get here, if that, so it's like they're still on the way, as many eggs shipped cross-country are?

That's what I'll do, I guess.

Sometimes I wish one of mine would go broody and stay in the mood; last winter the two pullets thinking they wanted to sit always changed their minds as night fell and temperatures dropped..................... they would go from refusing to be moved to suddenly ready to rejoin their flock on the roost.

However, I've reminded myself to be careful for what I wish for.
